Robot Sewable Circuit

So cute and well-made. My husband and son worked on this together. They loved it. 

This one took a while to put together.  Overall great way to teach.

It was really cute and a enjoyable project. Eyes didn’t light up but it was still really fun. Boys loved it. 

Amazing product and experience. Clear instructions. Well made. We loved it. Worked on it with my sons together ages 5 and 9. 

Great project. My son learned a bit about circuits and enjoys his robot. Definitely required parental help. Wouldn't be an independent project until closer to 10 I think. 

Did this with my 9 and 6 year olds. We all had a lot of fun and great teaching moments on circuits and electricity. 

Some KiwiCo activities they have been able to figure out together on their own. Small pieces to sew made this a little more tricky so I helped them out. Was a great family activity. 

The instructions were easy to follow. My nine year old needed my help to sew the conduit string tightly to secure the robot’s light up eyes, but otherwise she was able to put the rest of this cute little robot together by herself. This is a great project. 

Fun for my 9 yr old

Completing the circuit is always really cool, but even adults are genuinely amazed when my kids show off their robots.  The sewing on the outside is somewhat difficult because the needle is big and the felt isn’t super easy to get through, so I helped them a lot with that part, but the science part they did on their own with just some help with making sure they followed all the directions.  It is a really great project at a really great price.  We were a tiny bit short on the conductive thread (coolest thread EVER!), but I sent kiwico an email, and they sent out more right away.  Really, really love this project and the boys still love their robots!  Thinking about buying more kits as gifts for family and friends, because they are just so cool.

This is a great kit because my 9 year old was able to put it together without any help from us. However, when she was done, it didn't work. After a little poking around with the multimeter, we identified the problem: The included battery only puts out about 0.25 V, and the forward voltage on the blue LED is about 3.0 V so it doesn't light up. I'm guessing we just got a bad battery? So, on the one hand, my kiddo is a little disappointed that the project didn't work, but on the other we had a deeper discussion about how LEDs work than we would have otherwise. Which I guess is the point to all of this in the first place.
